Screech Owls are only about 8 inches long, so yes they are tiny in comparison to owls like the barred, barn, great horned, etc.

I've never understood how people are able to spot them. I've never spotted one, even with my glasses! Fantastic shot.

Back on Aug 5 I posted two photos, one a gray phased like the one shown and the other a red phased. Took the first at the Vermont institute of natural sciences and the second at the Five Rivers Environmental Center near Albany, New York. He had a favorite tree and I was able to get quite a few shots.

I cheated. This was a rescue bird in an aviary.
