Of course, but in general for the last few years some of the better cell phone cameras capture surprisingly good images. These are a few images I've taken with my 2 year old Samsung Galaxy s5. It's not a replacement for my Canon 7D Mark II and good lenses, and it certainly lacks features, but within its limitations it can work well and produce very usable images for a variety of purposes. And, Unlike my DSLR, it's with me 24/7!

Balogna go to Apple Store look at photos on their computers. All taken with IPhones , better than anything on here.

You obviously have your opinion and heaven forbid, you would let facts get in the way of your belief. Those photos at the Apple store, are they corporate supplied photos or were they taken by some guy in the store? I was at the Bronx Zoo in NYC, and one of the curators was showing me a photo that she had taken of a lion and was now a 20x30 poster. She was explaining that she took the picture with a Nikon point and shoot and look how well it enlarged. I asked her what size the image was that she sent the print shop and she said 5x7 why? I explained that the 1000 posters that they got with the image were produced by placing the 5x7 photo on a 20x30 flat bed camera and shooting a very large set of color separation negatives of it. Then they burned 4 offset plates (Magenta, yellow, cyan, and black) and printed the posters using offset printing. The great quality of the image wasn't a result of the camera but the process in the printshop. Sure, the picture was taken with an I-phone but take that image and send it to a processing /printing lab and see what you get. Life size? hardly.

I share your enthusiasm Erik. I've had my S7 Edge since mid August and love the camera. I especially like the voice activated shutter. It makes one-handed operation easy as saying "capture." Have you checked out Snapseed? It's a slick app to enhance your photos.

Hi '56HotRod'... I WholeHeartedly AGREE re: 'Snapseed'.!.!.! --- --- How 'adequate' is the FLASH on the 'Sam S7 Edge' ...specifically when shooting 'Whole 10-person Tables' at Wedding Receptions.?.!.? ...and Especially when taking the 'backup' shot.! ...my little Apple iPod Touch, simple doesn't re-cycle the Flash 'sufficiently' to provide Enough Light.

My s5 takes great pix, I dont need a fire extinguisher when I carry it. The cell phone replaces my 6 MP point and shoot that I always carried with me.
It doesn't replace the Dslr , if you just shoot and post your pix on line , the cell phone is ok.

Imagine being a photographer, being paid $4000, to shoot a wedding and you showed up with your cellphone and nothing else.

I never hear this addressed, but do you have any control over depth of field with a phone (clearly I don't have one)? Seems to me dof is vital for many images.

With a 6 MP camera. Far exceeded 20x30. My Galaxy S5 is 16 MP.

Yeah, but it's better to have 6 million buckets of gold, than 16 million buckets of manure.

I really was being facetious about the fire extinguisher. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I love it. I do need to upgrade in the near future because the screen is bad and the original memory is full as is my 16gb SD card. Its to the point where I have to uninstall programs to install updates on others. And I am waiting anxiously for them to get their issues fixed so that I can do the "upgrade".

I really do think of the camera phone as a replacement for the point and shoot and not a replacement for "major" photography gear. I can not imagine hiring a photographer to come shoot a wedding, real estate photos, or any major function and having that person show up and shoot the event with either a camera phone or a point and shoot. I did have to deal with an irate lady that was passed on to me at Nikon because she had purchased a Nikon One to shoot weddings and was horrified that no one wanted to hire her. I had her send me some of her sample work and I wouldn't have hired her, regardless of her equipment. Her composition was beyond horrible and that has nothing to do with the unsuitability of the Nikon One for shooting weddings. It was intended to be a step between point and shoot and DSLR for traveling and general grab and go photography.

You obviously haven't printed large prints from a cellphone before. It's not all about megapixel. It's about the quality of pixels. Do your homework.

Why is everyone on these forums so threatened by cell phones. I saw an LG G4 phone last weekend with a 16 Mp back phone and a 5 Mp front phone that knocked my socks off on phone and screen viewing on my computer. I could not repeat the images with one of my 16mp bridge camera's.

I have to say for having a device always on hand and Q&D high quality images, I am seriously thinking about getting one of the 16Mp LG phones. Going to play with them a bit, but my problem is mostly that even with my small, good P&S, there are too many times when I don't have a camera handy.

I don't understand all the techy talk and P&Ming about the threat of the cell phone camera's overtaking my DSLR and Mirrorless camera's.

Beat a dead horse folks... the transition is upon us already. You're all just afraid of having your digital camera's overwhelmed like (You Think) film was.

I'm still shooting film also, to my great delight. The technical stuff is BS. The final image rules!!

Hi 'Bob Boner'... I'm not sure, BUT Wouldn't 'depth of field' be extended by employing the camera's HDR mode.?.?.?

Thanks, Gpa-15. Actually, most of the images from phones I've seen have quite a bit of depth of field. I was more interested in shallow depth of field.

Don't want large prints, what do you do with them. HAve a large cardboard box full of prints dating back to 1954. Just waiting to be burnt by relatives when I pass. No more prints for me. YOU know what I'm talking about. You don't do large prints either, just want to argue.
