It reached 105° F yesterday in Tucson, and I was crazy enough to be out in the heat at mid-day. Neither snow nor rain nor [blazing] heat nor gloom of night stays these [photographers] from the (obsessive) completion of their appointed rounds. (With apologies to the U.S. Postal Service for adapting their creed. :-)

I played Tennis at the U of A for 4 years usually in the middle of the afternoon...it's a dry heat...then again, so is an oven.
What part of town is this in?

It's a wash that runs N/S from the Rillito River bed parallel to TucsonBlvdand and, just W of Rio Vista Park. Here's another another noonday find, from yesterday's foray into the noonday heat:

I thought it might be a mother and 1 juvenile. I send an email to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum asking them to confirm my ID of it as a Spiny Desert Lizard, and to see what they said re if the smaller one is a juvenile. We'll see.
The lizards are great! Nice find.

Not to take anything away from the lizards, but I was so excited when I came upon them because at first I thought it was a rattlesnake. As freaked as people get about possibly encountering one here in the Sonoran Desert, I've lived here for years, spent a lot of time out in the desert, and never seen one. Have encountered gila monsters, though. But, like most wild creatures (including rattlers), they just want to live, and if you give them space they don't bother you.
