Mom 86 and her friend (88) are looking over some of my photos.

The friend asks if I develop them myself in my own darkroom or do I send them out.
I explained they are digital and you don't have to develop them.

well her husbands hobby was photography and they had a darkroom and he developed his own pictures.
Then mom chimed in, my uncle had a dark room and she helped him develop his pictures.
You have to either have a darkroom or send them out.

Try as I could I couldnt make them understand you could print them on your home computer.

So if I can get them at my house I'll shoot a pic of them and then print it, They will be amazed.

Just a fun story about photography, cause Im tired of reading should I buy a Nikon Or Canon posts.

do you have a quick fun photography story for us to enjoy?

No story, but your story is a fine one.

My mom was developing dementia. It made conversations hard. One day I took my laptop full of family pictures. Together we would scroll through them and remember fun family times. Sometimes she would say, "Will you get a print for me?"

I started taking a small (Canon iP90) photo printer. She would ask for a print and I would print it on the spot, hole punch it and put it in her 3 ring binder. She seemed to forget about the printer and continue to ask that I get them printed somewhere. She could not comprehend digital photography and digital printing.

As the dementia got worse, my sister wrote the family names on Moms prints. Mom wore the binder out but always smiled when it was in her lap.

My Son was taking a selfish and my Dogs were in the back ground. It's not what it looks like. What really is happening, is my Standard Poodle carries his food to eat it somewhere else. My Scottie was trying to get some of the food.

Yes I do, a true story. Many years ago when I was just learning photography (I am 76) I was assigned to go out and take some informal portraits. I took my girlfriend to the LA zoo. She had beautiful blond hair and so I posed her on a park bench in front of the Zebra enclosure. I got some great shots of her, however, unknown to me, it was apparently Zebra mating season and the backgrounds, even though they were slightly out of focus were far more interesting than the main subject. The male Zebra was quite proud and had every reason to be, I mean WOW. I really didn't notice it while shooting the pictures, but while I had the negatives in the enlarger and noticed the activity in the background, I thought it was quite funny, however when I showed the pictures to my girlfriend, she didn't see the humor in them at all and didn't talk to me for about a week after that. So I now always pay attention to the backgrounds. I stayed in contact with her for all of her life and every once in a while she would bring up those pictures and laugh about them. She is gone now, but I will never forget that shoot, and she never did either.

My spellchecker is incomplete. Is it selfy, selfie or selfish?

He was taking a "selfish". Now that's funny. Does it mean he wouldn't share the "selfie"?

A couple months ago I was getting a haircut and the conversation got around to photography. They (the barbers) expressed an interest in "flower" photography. Now, keep in mind, the owner of the shop is a Korean woman and the other 2 barbers are also Korean women.
The next time I went in to get a haircut I took my Flower Photo Album with me to share with them. They seemed to really enjoy the pictures in the album and one woman commented: "Ah, you must have good camera to take such pretty pictures". Well, I just bit my lip and said "thank you".
