On a recent trip to Kure Beach, NC, I came across this species of Mushroom growing in the sandy soil outside the Butterfly House. Since it was on state property, I did not feel that it would be proper to disturb it...good thing, if my identification is correct, it would have been a "smelly" experience. It is, however, one of the prettiest mushrooms I ever saw! There were two adult and several early-stage mushrooms in the cluster growing out of the hardwood mulch. Please correct my identification if it is wrong...all my ID's should be prefaced with "I think this is...".
Hope you are enjoying a nice fall weekend!
