Re: 'Future of Workers in Japan & Korea ...at Camera factories'
=============
---As I JUST recently posted in another Forum, which was Commenting on the 'Shortness of Supply' re: the Sony 'A99 ii'; ...and, its Merits in Comparison to Canon//Nikon//...etc.;
----------------
-----"As a 'NEWBIE' to 'this' forum, I'll have to compare Specs and Reviews, before I Comment; ...HOWEVER, I DO Know enough about the 'Fukiushima' disaster and its affect on the People of Japan, so as to feel relatively Certain that UNLESS Canon and Nikon and Sony and etc. starts Manufacturing and Researching in a different Part of the World; ...THEN, in a Generation, these GREAT (but currently 'Save-Face' type) Japanese Companies, will NOT EXIST‼️😩"
------------
ADDED 'Background-Comment':
---"As a 20yr retired Military Officer, I was HORRIFIED when I read that within a month after 'Fukushima', an American 'Nuclear-Powered' Warship, that was 100-miles off the Japanese Coast, while using their 'required' dosimeters, found them to be Registering in the DANGER zone*. (...REPEATING: at a distance of a 100-miles.!.! )
---*ADDITIONALLY; i Co-Founded a Medical Svcs Company that did 'X-Rays' of Geriatric Patients on their Beds in Geriatric Facilities. -- 'Rads' are Cumulative over your life time; that's WHY the Doc or Tech gets behind a Lead Wall, as they 'Snap'.!!

I'm a journalist based in Japan. I've been up to Fukushima more than fifty times since the triple disaster, including inside the exclusion zone and even inside the plant. I wore a dosimeter and recorded my daily dosage for over two years, and was flown to Germany for training in radiological matters with the German army.
I happen to be totally anti nuke personally, but I can tell you that there is much too much fearmongering on the press. The effects of the Fukushima accident have been way overstated. It could have been an immense disaster, but due to prevailing weather conditions at the time, most of the released radionuclides were dispersed over a wide area at sea and do not presently pose a significant health risk to anyone.

Hi 'kymarto'... Many THANKS for your Report//Comment.
DIFFERENT SUBJECT:
If the World would perfect 'Cold-Fusion' ...viz. Pons and Fleischmann; we wouldn't have to worry about: ...Radiation or ...Spent Fuel Rods or ...Solid Waste or ...The Polution of our Oceans or ...Clean & Limitless Energy; ...IMHO.
I haven't checked, but I am assuming that there must be a full moon tonight.
You worry too much, Gpa-15.
It is unlikely the Japanese islands will become inhabitable by the next generation. Even if this should happen, well then, you'll just have to buy your camera stuff from a company based in China, Korea or wherever. During the 20th century, countless camera manufacturers in the West have folded. But this hasn't stopped photography. The industry simply shifts and adapts, and so do photographers.
Be more concerned about their birth rate - by some metrics they are "unrecoverable".
