Printed photo magazines

Back in the 1980s I subscribed to a U.K. Magazine called Camera (I think). It majored on photography and images rather than equipment reviews. It was beautifully printed and I kept every issue until a number of house moves and a move from the UK to the US caused me to pass them on.

I'd love to subscribe to a printed (as opposed to digital - I'm very happy with digital publications, but still like handling a book.) that features great images, impressive photographers and photo history but is light on equipment reviews and 'how to' articles.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

"Camera" magazine is still published as are several other photo mags out of the UK.

This one is an excellent magazine. www.digitalcameraworld.com

"Camera" address is probably just www.camera.com

I'm sure all the info needed to subscribe to the paper mag will be online.

I went surfing around and this is what I found about the magazine from my friend and yours 'Wikipedia'

Under the direction of Allan Porter, Camera was marked not only by its search for talent in the leading frontiers of modern photography, but for its examination, from a modern viewpoint, of the works of past masters.

After eight more years of production Ringier decided that Camera was not in the company interests, and marked December 1981,[2] a date a few months short of the magazine's 60th anniversary, as the month of its final issue

Back in the 1980s I subscribed to a U.K. Magazine ... (show quote)

For Canon, the mag I believe is called Photo Plus. For Nikon the mag is called NPhoto. Both published in England (Bath). They also publish a mag called Digital Photo.

I subscribe to NPhoto, although a bit expensive is very informative and interesting.
