I looked closely, but did not see a single person without a hat. Must have been a law requiring the wearing of hats outside in public🎩. The men's derbies looked like they were all purchased at the same store, or maybe there was only one derby model.

Great video. Thanks for posting.

That must have been very impressive to people back then - something like VR is to us today.

I think I found at least one guy. At the 1:15 point a guy on a bike appears to be hatless. Another one at 1:35, the guy in the back. Not shown in the video, the bobbies cuffing these two individuals and carting them off to gaol (now spelled jail).

Did anyone notice that towards the end of the film, there were people trying to get on camera smiling at it and others trying to push them away so they could be on camera??? People are the same nowadays in that respect.

Everyone who enjoyed this should go to Youtube and watch a similar film taken in San Francisco---just a day or two before the earthquake and fire. It was taken from a trolley car on Market St.
Near the end of it the trolley is turning around at the Terminal Bldg and the camera pans across the face of a very old gentleman with a white beard. Someone has commented that when you look at this man you are seeing someone who was alive when Thomas Jefferson was alive.
I recommend you YouTube it if you like this kind of stuff.

Watched it twice. Fascinating film. As I was watching, I realized every person in that film is now deceased.... sad to know....life goes on.
