I love trying the new RX 100's when they come out - and I am excited about this one. But there has not been too much hype... I watched the interview with that sony guy from B&H - but that's all I can find. What do you RX100 lovers think?? Are you going to splurge come October 28 ?

Five models in five years. Unless you keep updating, you'll always have "second best." The prices have risen pretty quickly. I had the III and IV and went back to my DSLRs.

For the present, my RX100III is sufficient for my needs. Takes great travel photos (it's main use), and, best of all, fits in my shirt pocket. My big Nikon D7000 has long been consigned to the closet.

Not going to splurge on October 28, it will make a nice birthday present come mid spring. The a6500 when price goes down to at least 1200. It isn't worth more then twice the a6000. They both fall into the category of would be nice but... The new a99ll has the features and price point for a now item. It seems like it will complete my a mount camera system very well. All three need to still be seen in person. Know you didn't ask about the other two but the answer for me was yes but not when it comes out, then needed to think when.

I have to agree with Jerry on this one. Too many upgrades every year. The a6300 is not a year old yet and superseded by the a6500. Some haven't figured out the previous camera yet and here comes a newbie. Same with RX10s and RX100s.

It does feel like I just bought the mark IV, I thought if I could sell it I would get the V - but so far no bidders on ebay.
But it will drive me crazy knowing there is a new model out there -- my GAS will take over my life. If I can sell the the IV I'm going for it.

Give it time, and you'll get a good price. I sold my III and IV on ebay and was satisfied with what I got.

I have version one. It is a very good stills shooter. I'm not sure I would detect differences in printed stills from any of the 5 versions. IMHO, the key differences that count are in video capabilities. The 4 and 5 will do about the best 4K shooting while being pocketable. There are lots of compromises when a camera gets that small. No matter what the features are, the significant one is smallness.

I've got the Mk II and do not think the new features are worth $1000. I do not miss a viewfinder, and wasn't that impressed with the OLED device on the Mk IV.

I've gone to the Canon G5X for a little camera. I didn't like the dorky viewfinder on the HX100 IV that I had.

Excited hardly describes my feelings young Tom. Like I'm hyper about it. Have not slept a wink since the announcement. My dog is chained up outside the local camera shop Trained to bark loudly as soon as the delivery truck loaded with RX 100's arrives. My skate board is ready to get me there in double quick time when I hear Derek the dogs bark from the apartment I have rented to be close to the camera shop.
Excited? No not at all.

Ok Ok - I got it -- sometimes when these new cameras are announced there are some new features you guys get excited about - that 's all I was wondering, (if you all knew of any new features that I had not heard about) -- The new super fast AF sounded pretty cool to me. Hey but thanks to referring to me as "young" Tom - young is not a word used to describe me anymore. So I'll take that as a positive start to the day. Don't forget to give your dog some water

Well you can thank me for the new V. I bought the IV and a week later they announced the V was coming. I'm still learning the camera particularly how to get rid of the severe distortion in group photos. Anyone know any Lightroom tricks?
