I, too, like the first one, but the shadow images do nothing at all for me. They detract from the beauty of the lady.

As others have said, the shadows detract from a very lovely woman.

Diagonal line composition pose of #1 is excellent, lighting is good. Bit bothered by swarm of Gnats around her head !

Agreed, the projected pattern did not do this one good, but when time permits I am going to give it a try with brighter wall paper like patterns bright and cheery. There is a company that will convert digital to slides for a reasonable price (sorry ref escapes me). So #2&3 are good poses and original in technique.... tho it may be the viewer ringing the "not what I am use to" mental alarm.... may take some getting use to. Size of shadow, too big??? Humm don't give up on that technique.

What did you use a digital projection or overhead or Kodak Carousel ?

I used a piece of cloth with the pattern in front of her for those shots.

Beautiful photos. Lighting, composition - and model - are exquisite.

Number one is the best of the three. However, the background has been illuminated and is causing a distraction. This effect draws the viewers eyes away from her eyes.

The remaining two, with the projected shadows are distracting as well. It might have had a different impact if the shadow pattern had been sharply focused, but as it is at first glance the patterns make the whole image appear out of focus. The model is not out of focus, she is properly focused, but the shadows provide a distracting illusion.

Nice work Ken..Really good classic shots of a beautiful model. I like that you direct your models face to the camera, IMHO a much more humanizing pose. Like other comments here I am not sure about the foreshadowing elements but I due appreciate the artistic effort. FWIW, I am just down the from you in N. Austin and there is two really fine art nude workshops here that always have high level professional models traveling through plus of course a bunch of locals. If you are interested drop me a note and I will send the links to their sites....Again, great work and thanks for posting...

For a first post Ken, you did exceptionally well. But, i do have to agree with the other comments that picture 2 and 3 are just a bit overdone with the drapery in front of the model. She is beautiful and the lighting is excellent, but the "curtain" in front of her is just a little overwhelming. I would like to see more of her, in every way without the curtain.

I liked the first one. I found the others unflattering with the pattern.

Thanks to all for the comments. I was reluctant at first to shoot the images with the cloth and wondered what others thought. Should have stuck with my first thought. Thanks again.

The shadow patterns might have actually been a very creative idea if the shadows were projected with a sharp focus on her body. The out of focus quality they add to the sharp basic model body isa serious distraction and definitely detracts.

Ken,

If you don't try, you won't know.

You tried and found the courage to ask here on the Hog.

Now you know what to do the next time. Try something else, see what floats, and what sinks.

I like the first one, I like the idea of the shadows too, I think with a bit of work you could make a really great shot using that effect.
