This is how many newscasters portray every hurricane. Well, I live approximately in the path of Hurricane Matthew. Far enough inland as to make the effects of the hurricane minimal. That said, I will shoot a few images to show the progression of the storm from the viewpoint of a few palm trees in the back yard. It's a good opportunity to test out some 30-60 year old lenses I intend to use with my digital Hasselblad. This first image is about 24 hours from when the storm hits.

Did you ever notice today that reporters just don't just report the news any more they all try to put their own spin on it.

Indeed, they are all news commentators, not just reporters. "News" is sooo 20th century.

And the hassle is, we're just renting this house, so the owner showed up to put up the storm shutters. Great. I'll likely have to walk all the way around the house, in the wind and rain, to get tomorrow's shot. Fun.

Well, the back on the camera cost me $10,000, and the front end is thousands more, so I think "careful" will be the operative word. Now, the storm shutters have possibly precluded shooting from the back yard, so, here is a look from the front, about 15 hours before this slow-icane brushes past this place.

Spin is the operative word.

I'd say you have little to worry about as L.A. is quite a bit inland from where the hurricane is supposed to make landfall.

Some actually try to become part of the news story.

Once battery is charged, I'll be taking shots of house. Mostly to have "before" pics for insurance. It's expected to be a Cat. 4 with winds around 145 mph when it goes by here
