Large Tree Image for Halloween Open House

Here is a shot of a large, well known tree in town. The tree image was captured at night, purposely Monochrome/B&W and 'Dark' for the Halloween Theme of the Photo Club's Open House. This really is a very large, and hence, old tree! FYC?

Best Regards,
Tom

I like the position of the moon but the image does not convince about the moonlight itself. The sky through the tree looks much brighter than the surrounding sky other than where you have halos. The out of focus clump of tree or bush in the foreground is doing you no favors at all here. Tom, in this mans humble and honest opinion whatever you were trying to achieve in this instance did not work. And lose the watermark it catches the eye consistently and I promise you will not stop image theft and there is no need to advertise here. We all know and luv ya!!!!!!

Billy,

I am laughing, laughing, laughing with your comments - especially the last 6 words. Thanks very much for your honesty - that is always what I look forward to receiving. How else can we progress and improve! I had an idea in my head, but I guess it just doesn't work for everyone, and perhaps, I didn't succeed in getting across what I wanted that was in my mind.

I have a large print of this, and it doesn't look excellent, but I think it may pass for what it was shot for, and local people will hopefully be able to relate to the image when they look at it, especially since they can see it for real in town and are familiar with the actual location, etc.. It was taken for the sole purpose of Halloween and the theme of the Open House. Thanks very much for your critique.

Best Regards,
Tom

Tom, I don't disagree with anything Billy said. However, for your stated purpose it may be just right. After all, most aspects of Halloween are unnatural. This tree almost looks like it has come to life in the eerie light.

Carol & Frank,

I was just trying to make it look a little bit eerie or Halloweenish, so that was my intent and idea when taking and processing the image. A great work of art and prize winner, I doubt, but maybe for this occasion it will be liked by viewer's attending the Open House and throughout this month. Also, I doubt that there will be many photography experts at this occasion! Thanks to the both of you - much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Tom

The locals should love it. It'll make them look at their familiar old tree in a new light (a strange, eerie kind of light ).

Suitably spooky! Nothing so good as a big tree and moon to make the hair stand on end. Add in a pair of owl eyes somewhere and you're there, lol!
