I was browsing at the Best Buy Store here in the Atwater Section of L.A. & I saw the new Nikon D3400 Camera.

Does anybody know when this model came out & what does anybody know or even handled this new Nikon Model?

Anybody who has their Eyes Opened on this site get back to me.

Saw one in a Best Buy in Philadelphia suburb on Saturday. I was in the camera section looking for a battery when I saw the D3400. I know little about that model other than it's new and the upgrade to the D3300. I was going to ask the Best Buy sales rep a few questions about the D3400 after I inquired about the battery I was looking for. I asked him if they sell a battery for the Canon SL1. His response was, yes we sell Canon SLR'S. Thats when I decided it wasn't worth asking him about the D3400.

The only Nikon's I know much about are the two I own, the D7200 and the D500.

DPReview reports that the Nikon D3400 was announced in mid-August: a 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter. Among its specs the camera reportedly features Nikon's SnapBridge mobile connectivity.

Good observation about Best Buy employees. Imagine Walmart.

Came out a couple of weeks ago and is a minor upgrade to the d3300. Nikon made the announcement back in August and the spec's are published on lots of photo/camera sites. Nothing earth shattering about this camera.

It began shipping the last of September, along with the D5500.

Nikon's new D3400 did not impress me as a successor to the D3300, unless you're a big fan of Bluetooth. Which was an added feature.

Ummmm...the D5500 has been out since back in 2015 so you must be referring to some other camera.

Just an FYI for anyone who is interested...last Friday I saw that Costco is selling the d3400 with the 18-55 mm lens and the 70-300 lens, 32 GB SD card, bag and 2 batteries for about $799. That also includes 2 year extended warranty.

I own a Nikon D3300, I bought it used 6 months ago, with the Nikon18-55 DX VR II lens + all neccessary accessories included for $350.00. And from my observation, the D3400 is not a whole lot different, except in price, so I suggest your compare each camera side by side, and decide for yourself what you need and what you want, and which model would fulfill your needs and wants in a DSLR Camera, consider that you will be spending money on other accessories, Lens, etc. So, shop and compare is my best advise.

Well... Thank you for the Ken Rockwell report on this new 3400.

I Damn well will be Steering away from this New Nikon Model

I did not like this man's report on the 3400, & I will give the 3400 a "C-Minus"... I don't like the Lack of features on the 3400

I'll be sticking with my Main Camera... My Bridge Camera... The SX50, until I get a Camera with the Features that suit me

While I have considered a D 3300, someone told me that it doesn't offer bracketing. I found that unusual, but I have not looked into it myself. It is not a feature I use often but I do like it occasionally.

I've read about it - sounds like a good deal for the price. "The Nikon D3400 is a fantastic little DSLR."
