I usually don't shoot in "Live View"mode, but this evening I spotted a large bird on a log in the backyard canal. I knew I didn't have enough contrast to make the shot, so I clicked on "Live View"on my new 5D Mark IV. The "live view" screen only populated for about 1 second, then the mirror fell back in place disallowing the "Live View" to function. I went inside and retested the lens, and got no joy. I mounted another Tamron to the 5D MIV and everything worked fine. I then tested using a 70-200mm lens worked fine. Is there any similar problems others may be having with the 5D MIV?

The only problem I have had was mine didn't like an SD card I was using and would give an error code. Swapped it out and no problems now. I did see that the camera was having some problems with 3rd party lenses, maybe this is one of the lenses.

There do appear to be some issues with Sigma / Tamron lenses, and Canon is apparently issuing a firmware update soon. Keep an eye on Canon Rumors...
What is the aperture setting on the Tamron? Try putting it back on and set it for 150mm at f/5.6 and see if the LiveView works. It may be that when the Tamron is at 600mm and f/6.3 it may be too dark for LV to work.
I got a response from Tamron in today's email. The problem will be fixed in a the latest firmware update. I'll have to send in my lens for the update. There are other updates included with "live view" problem that will effect focus speed, and accuracy.

It's unfortunate that Tamron does not have something similar to Sigma's USB Dock which would allow you to download the firmware update yourself. In any case it's nice to know that a solution is available.

They do, but just like the Sigma dock, the only lenses that work with it are those designed/released after the dock was released. The original 150-600 was long before Tamron released their dock. The new G2 works with it.

I did not know Tamron had a device to provide updates to their newer lenses.Good to know, thanks.
