Ink for Canon printers.
I have purchased a professional printer Canon Pixma pro 100 from B&H. The printer is supposedly worth about $500.00 B&H has a sale on this printer for $379.99. Canon has a rebate $250.00 on this printer till end of September 2016. The bottom line is the printer comes to $127.99, which includes 50 photo papers 13" x 19". Printer as 8 ink cartridges which are only half full. The new set of cartridges is $124.99. Only three dollars less than the whole printer. Does anyone has a good experience with a third party ink supplier? I am happy with this printer and the price I paid for it, but the price of the ink will put me in the poor house.
Our Costco here in Canada have a refill program. Just used it once. Price excellent.
Google CIS or CISS ... Continuous Ink Supply System... for Canon Pro 100. Many choices and great savings using large tanks of ink. Epson now sells a printer equipped with CIS... ahead of the game.
Printing on the cheap: one example of CIS for $100... I am not familiar with this company... but the google gave many.

Sin of 2nd party is clogging disappearing color and incurable VDs. BU!! They demand archival 100 year inks... will you be around to check.. nope. I have use CIS for 10years and he prints are stable displayed on the wall. Inks are almost universally UV stable and besides that except at Halloween there is not much UV in your living-room.
I have used 3rd party inks in canon printers for used with no problems, I use Ink America and LD products. Each cartridge cost less than $6
I have the same printer and love it. Used 3rd party ink but didn't seem to last as long an the canon inks. Seemed like I was replacing the cartridges more often. Steve M, if you purchase the CIS from Horizon360 , let me know how easy/difficult it is to install it.
Go to YouTube and search for "jtoolman" Many videos on Pro-100.
I've used LD for a number of years without issue.
Thanks all of you guys for valuable inputs.
The original cart,s are full!
CIS is the way to go. Typical ink cartridge holds 7ml of ink. I buy a complete refill (6 colors, 100ml of each color) for under $20 from PrintPayLess for my Epson printer. Makes ink costs almost negligible.

Definitely watch his videos. He has reported a number of problems, printers ruined, with trying a CISS system on this printer. IMO it is best to refill original cartridges with Precision Color inks.

It's ok to use reputable third party ink. However, be aware that you will have to profile your printer, and there could be a color consistency issue. I use ConeColor ink in my Epson 4880, and while they are as good as you can get for the Epson, there are some differences. Their black is pretty awful, so I still use Epson's black carts. Otherwise the price is significantly cheaper than OEM, and quality is quite good.
Yep..same dog bit me Steve. I have had a Canon Pro-1 for close to two years now and with 12 ink tanks at 36+ bucks a pop my budget has been severely strained. I have tried to compensate by only taking my best of the best shots to print but it is still a pain in the wallet. I have resisted 2 party inks but may be forced to rethink due simple economics. I continue to monitor this issue on this site and others. Keep us ll posted on your decision and results...Thanks.
