This little tot has been well trained and did her best to sell me a kilo of Mahalika rice when I told her that was my favorite. Taken in the outdoor market close to Subic Bay.

This is a classic Mr. Spad street shot. I like it, well composed, controlled colors, and good perspective. Two things...her skin seems grainy, just curious if you've done any processing to enhance or it's just her natural complexion? The numbers in the background seem to keep grabbing my attention away from the main subject, I don't know if toning down a bit would help.Well done Mr. Spad.

As Steve said, it's the eyes. Always the eyes. True of all your shots, Billy: straight to the soul through the eyes. Me, I am not a bit bothered by the numbers. I find them soft enough to be no more than background that establishes the setting.

Very nice portrait, captures her determined spirit in a memorable way. She doesn't look in the least afraid of you, but sizing you up for what she might do to bend your will to hers. It is one of those rare ones that I won't tell you you should have been down on the ground at her level, though that would have yielded another and probably equally appealing image. Sometimes capturing from slightly above that level works, and in this case it does for me. Technically it seems sound. You've used the available elements and colors well for framing and composition.

Yes, as they're saying, you got it right Billy - very nicely done. The numbers are a distraction and, short of removing them, I doubt you'll improve it. Full engagement with the subject as per Billy's method is, I agree, essential with child photography - avoids arrest here in the UK, where we are all now paranoid!

She's beautiful. Her pose is very natural and very self-confident. I pity the men who have to deal with the grown-up version of her!

Billy, this is a very touching photo. Even if she, and her family are successful vendors. The composition, exposure, color, are all right there. Very good photo.

There are several things that I like about this shot. I love the eyes. I like that you got her to basically pose for you. That works well in this shot. Then, you got the merchandise in the background slightly out of focus. It is blurred enough so that it does not become a distraction; but sharp enough so that it is still easily recognizable. Well done.

Well spotted re the work on the skin my man. It was taken in very bad light where even the supa dupa Nikon struggled. If I was going to print it then I reckon something like Perfect Portrait would fix it but for screen viewing I thought it was OK. The numbers are the prices of the rice which of course is what the story is about. ( Cannot believe I just said that!). So I left them as the camera captured it but I see your viewpoint. For me I would leave them though.
Glad ya like it fella.

min I got a burst of three shots with her as she is she shown here then dropped to my knees for a more classic angle and of course she went all shy on me and the moment had gone. As W C Fields so rightly said never work with kids! I think like you it works from a higher viewpoint so all was not lost.
Thank you for calling by and commenting min your input is always welcomed.

Pleased you like it Dave. One also has to be careful here with children so I never give em money etc. The parents and police together work a scam and accuse an innocent of inappropriate behavior and one is "invited" to pay compensation to the parents who split the divvy with the cop. Alternative is charged and forever be known as a peado. So here I only take shots like this in very public areas and avoid getting close to the child. Its sad but in a poor country folks see the white guy as a walking ATM at times and will take advantage if you give them a chance. I do not call it crooked I call it survival but I know and see how poor some are. Hope all is well with you my friend.
