It's pretty scary how hard it is to hide in a large crowds. Click on the link and then pick a spot in the crowd and double click a couple of times. The Canadian pic is made up of a series of photos taken and sandwiched together. It's 12 pics across and 18 pics high and were taken over several minutes to represent a single moment in time. and was done prior to hockey game....

Very interesting, and - yes - scary.

Geeeeez! If that doesn't scare you, I don't know what will!

Edit: gotta admit, the technology is pretty impressive.

Several retail chains have experimented with face-scanning systems to identify known shoplifters as they enter the store. (I'm told Las Vegas casinos are where this technology is used most--to identify cheats.)

According to the Wall Street Journal, WalMart recently discontinued one such system they were experimenting with, but won't say why.

The computers already know more about your web browsing and buying habits (online and in-store) than you do, the day is coming when you'll be tracked nearly every moment you're out of your home. (And the stuff posted a while back about what can be done with wireless routers could mean that eventually we'll be tracked 24x7.)

I fully expect some governments (including USA) to start suggesting that everyone be implanted with a chip that identifies us. I would not be surprised if these suggestions start in the next 4 years but it will (hopefully) take a lot longer than that before it gets implemented.

And bar coded 666. Conspiracy theorist at work here.

For info, chip implants were first used to identify pets. They are widely used to identify shipments. A Swedish company has created its own chip implant to allow access to some facilities and not other for their employees.

If technology scares you so much just stop reading the wrong (propaganda) news.

Nothing new but also nothing scary. This isn't a surveillance sequence, it was just done as part of a news report showing the crowd waiting to watch a hockey game on a series of giant screens set up around the TV station.

When stitching together such multi image panoramas, particularly when taken over several minutes, there are bound to be artifacts, and people appearing twice. These "errors" are there, but amazingly few and far between, requiring diligent searching to find.

Since the cameras are pretty much in continuous operation, any artifacts due to stitching multiple shots together should be relatively easy to resolve by analyzing shots over time.

Just because you have your head in the sand doesn't mean that they can't identify you from your puckered butt hole!

Get real!
