So true. My husband was in 1st. Force Recon 60-68. He was on his second tour when the Tet offensive took place. That sent him home and a discharge. About 10 years ago he was going to be in DC on business. I rearranged my schedule and went with him. I wanted to see "The Wall" He did not. I persisted. We went. When we first saw the wall, we were not near it. He froze and tears started to well up. This guy who was walking up from visiting the Memorial stands in front of him puts his hands on my husband shoulders. In my lifetime I will never forget that encounter. We did not go to the wall. At certain times he says it feels like yesterday.

Very sad part of American history, all those men lost in battle. They were fighting for their country but their country was not behind them. My heart goes out to the families of the men and women who were part of that war. Never received the respect they deserved and many still have issues that haunt them to this day.

Right. And in the end, the North took over the South.

What Robert MacNamara admitted to should have been enough to have him hauled up on a tree limb with a rope around his neck .

In mid 1966 I tried to join the Air Force. I took their tests and was told that I did well. My plan was to do at least 20 years in the service. Then I went through the initial physical. They measured me at 6' 2 3/4", but I only weighed 129 pounds. I was indeed thin but in good shape. They told me that if I could gain at least 7 to 8 pounds in two weeks I could go. I ate everything in sight, but no luck. None of the other branches could take me either. Now as I look back I don't know whether to still feel pissed or thankful. Our guys took it bad then and still are now in Afghanistan and Iraq. God Bless our Military Men and Women!

I remember when the Vietnam Wall in DC was completed and ceremoniously inducted as a Memorial. In the early years after the wall was completed, Memorial Day and Veterans Day were the most emotional to see on TV News. I was there during the Spring of 2015. When you see those 58,000 or so names on the wall, it is emotional.

It is the media Look soldiers went from returning, war to be spit on called baby killers, and so on. Now look at how the media has switched from baby killers to Saints. Just think only a decade past Iran, and radical islam was the worst now Our elected officals control the media so Iran, Murder, bombings in the US are not called terrorism anymore. The Highest leaders from the potus refuse to even mention Radical islam? The media is so corrupt and scripted it is in free fall. The power of the media over and over program the masses until people don't think for themselves. They flip the script , Bait and switch news cycles. Maby we should look at alternative media, I know the alternative break stories , that trend, therefore forcing the corporate media to report truth that days before were conspiracy theories But suddenly become true when people demand the truth.

For all of the controversy around it design, I find it to be one of the most powerful and moving monuments I have ever seen.

If possible, you need to go. Plan on spending several hours there. Look up names of his friends. It's part of the healing process. I have 154 combat support missions from 1969-1972, and 22 squadron mates on the wall. You need to go.

To be correct he said he " made a mistake ". He should have been drawn and quartered at least. Just like yesterday. Saw a t shirt the other day, says it all " I was a veteran before it was popular ".

For him, that will not happen.

My other half always maintained that it was the media that lost the Vietnam war, not the military. Congress, every vigilant as to which way
the winds of popularity blew, jumped on the media bandwagon, led by the hippy crowd, and tried to run a war that they should have
left to the Generals. What we saw on TV was NOT what was actually happening. They ALL lied to us.
