While I like the photo it is hard to discern what it is, for me anyway. How big is it? Is it 4 inches or 40 feet? Is this a top down view or a side view?

It is a cliff wall, sort of an overhang. What you are looking at I estimate to be 40 feet high.

That is really unusual and awesome.
I enjoy pictures that leave the scale up for grabs. This one is delightfully ambiguous. Is it 40' high or is it a microphotograph of some primitive life-form? It forces me to accept it as an abstraction.

Good image but it's more an example of exfoliation. Sandstone adsorbs moisture and slowly deteriorates due to freezing and thawing.
Very interesting and unique erosion AZ, I have never seen anything like it.
