I took this photo of this beautiful John Deere tractor at this year's home town parade . Although I have owned 8 Kubotas , and 3 Mahindras , I still love all the old tractors . I'm sure some of you might of had a grandfather that had one . I'm glad some people take the time to find and restore these master pieces from the past so we can enjoy them today and into the future . Don't you agree ......Tommy

Nice shot. That old "Poppin' Johnny" and I were made in the same year. It looks more capable of still doing its job than I do.

Great photo... I recall Ol' Grump Mr Phillpot with is grunt/groan sounding Ford-Fergson tractor.. same wheels... slow moving beast compared to todays machines. Good photos are those which invoke memories or cause reaction ... tell a story.... this one does. He looked like one of the evil characters in a children of corn movies.... we kids below 10 were frightened of him and would run with our sleds from the winter wheat field hill when we saw his old 41 Ford dark sedan coming down the road to get us off his crop..... yikes....

I couldn't agree more Tommy. That is a beautiful restoration job this gentleman did and a fine shot of it. I'll always stop and check out a post of old tractors. Thanks. Totally enjoyed it.

My Dad had one in the early 40s.
The next tractor was a 1938 A which he had for about fifteen years. That was the first tractor I drove. I set on it a many of hours as a teenager.
Tractors then did not have hydraulics unless order with or added later. This one had power lift and the live hydraulics was added latter. It also run on a fuel similar to kerosene but you could change manifolds and use gas. The old two lunger as some called them.

Good shot. The first one I drove was a 50's something Massy-Ferguson. I had the great job of spreading manure.
