That's all? Lightweight, huh. Well you are old, so I guess that's ok.
Ah, good to see you've emerged from your cave...

in the field, when i have had to use it, i carried two sidearms - my model 1911 Colt 45 caliber automatic and a Webley 45 caliber pistol in a rear holster. in earlier years, sadly, each had served me well. all i really wanted to do in those situations was make pictures with my leicas, but it didn't work out that way.
Ahha.
My father, an ex WWII soldier
gave me a Krupp 22 long rifle when I was 8 and showed me how
to use it hunting rabbits.
Later I was "taught" how to shoot in the
Australian army, and carried a 9mm F1 sub machine gun,
numerous "SLRs"... a 7.62x51mm self loading rifle (hence SLR) made in
Australia under licence from FN. And an AR... basically the same as an SLR
but fully auto as well as semi auto. And not so much carry (at times not far from it though)
but operate a 105mm howitzer.
PS. I assume by 45 Webley you mean the .455 Revolver.

One of these days you come out of yours. Preferably without a limp wrist.

yes, you are correct - i was just lazy and sadly remembering those places and people. the Webley .455, while not certainly not the newest revolver out there today, was my (twice needed) back up weapon. my colt model 1911, did jam on me a few times. but, i had a great group of soldiers looking out for my butt! i was not in the military, my function was somewhat different, and carrying what i had to use was for situations where there was really no choice. my primary objective was to make photographs. i was not a civilian press photographer, but rather working for the government in a non-military position. more than that, i really cannot say.
i relied on the Webley, as it packed as much stopping power as the colt. and being a revolver, it always came through for me.
delightful you should mention the 105 howitzer - my favorite field weapon of all times. always wanted to own one, but not really practical for my back yard.

I saw no active service, having enlisted just after Australia pulled out
of South East Asia. I saw no action... you did.
A howitzer on the front lawn would be excellent especially if you had plenty
of charge bags, white phosphorous and splintex projectiles for the
unwanted visitors.
What I have been really lusting after though, is a 6 wheel drive "gun tractor"
we towed the guns with. It would be perfect
to get (very) even with the @#$%^&#s that drive their Hyundais
as if you were invisible.
