On my last day at work, I took some pictures of one of four central office switch i had built and maintained for the past 20 years. Just sharing these ,,,,
Congratulations on making it to retirement. I'm guessing it will take awhile to get used to, but remember - every day is now a Saturday! Good shots of the CO - most people have never seen how their calls get routed. My father-in-law's father brought telephone service to Raleigh, and I have old B&Ws of the CO then - somewhat different!
Switching offices are very much different now, gone are the click and clack noise of step switches (relays). I started from that era 49 years ago working in a rural telephone company.

Yep, they were my big customer when I was at NetApp before they went belly-up here. I also did design work on T1 and ESS at ITT in Raleigh in the 70s.

Congratulations on your retirement; it looks like you were a busy guy for a long time. Like TriX said, every day is Saturday now--well, almost. Nice photos, too.
Hi switchman, Those offices were a heck of an improvement over the old step and cross-bar offices I worked with. Those shots brought back some old memories of days gone by. Take care & ...
Neat, switchman! Our son and his family live in Chesapeake, VA!
Chesapeake used to be called a bedroom community, not anymore. Still better than Virginia Beach which is too crowded now. I'm not the NewYorker is used to be,,,lol.
