The sky was not your friend today, I don't know what time of day you were out but early morning from daybreak until about 8:00 am is usually the best time ( around here ) or late afternoon. if you camera allows it try a 1/3 stop under exposure, since I shoot all manual im not 100% sure what the auto setting would be, probably -ev1/3 , this will add a bit more saturation to your colors.
