A lot of positive comments about the D500 & 200-500 combo, how about with the D7200 and the 200 - 500? (Clarity and focus speed etc.)
Thanks for your responses

I have a 7100 focus speed and image quality are about the same as on your 7200. But neither one can hold a candle to the speed of a 500, it is much faster and it has a higher burst rate number to.

I use it on my D7100 and I am satisfied. My D500 focus acquisition is much faster and for BIF the extra speed is nice.

That should be a good combination, the D7200 and the 200-500mm zoom lens. The D7200 was the best DX camera until the D500 camera arrived. I missed out getting a refurbished D7200 some months ago for $769 from Adorama. The last I checked some weeks ago they were selling refurbished at Nikon USA for $1000. The D7200 still holds the Silver Medal in the DX category of cameras. And the D7100 is still holding on too, despite the D7200. Enjoy your 200-500mm lens. It's a great lens.

I agree. Some of my captures using my D7200 and my 200-500 are amazing! The clear and crisp images are spectacular. Fast focus and easy handling and reasonable price (?) are this great lens's strengths. I did purchase the Kirk collar and support. Much improved solidity.

The D7200 really is an amazing prosumer camera. With the Sandisk fast SD cards and a fast shutter of nearly six fps is possible.

I truly do enjoy both the D7200 and the 200-500.

Well whether the D500 is the best DX camera is subject to debate.

I am not sure the D500 is worth the difference in price. The D7200 really does take great photos!

I have a D7200 and a D500. They each are capable of taking excellent photos with the 200-500. The faster shooting and focusing of the D500 can be a plus in some situations. When there is less need for a little extra speed the D7200 will do just as well.

I was talking about capabilities having used the D7200 prior to getting the D500. I normally use the D7200 with shorter lenses for flowers and an occasional land scape.

Tomorrow or Tuesday I will be picking up a new Jeep. I'll bring the D7200 with the 35 F1.8 to get a couple of shots.

Great choice! My 35mm stays on my D7200.
Although I have a SB400, the lack of an on-board flash does not impress me.

It is if you need the enhanced focusing ability and speed. The D7200 is an exceptional camera.

Yes the D500 is a very capable camera. $2,500.00 for the D500 and the 16-80 is a smokin deal. Gives me a GAS attack! Ah but wifey needs a new floor, so
