Before Hurricane Hermine visited us many of our fresh water marsh areas in NE Florida had pretty much dried up... and looked awful! I saw this Great Egret in a "mud-marsh" and was able to position myself (grossing out my shoes in the process with semi-dried mud) to capture this egret with mud as the background (Nikon D500 and 200-500mm zoomed to 500 on monopod). It too me longer to clean my shoes than to edit the image! :-)

Lovely. I would have never guessed the background was mud!! It was worth a little mud on the shoes.

Thank you! The mud looked pretty hard and dry until I stepped into it.... but was already committed! :-)

Great shot! (I never mind a little mud or muck to get the shot, in fact, my sis-in-law said she was going to bring hip waders the next time I drag her with me.)
