Personally unless I go out of state or abroad I travel as light as possible as having the full gear with you may seem like a good idea... In the end it really is not.

You will quickly realize that you carry way too much that is never used so... Take something else instead like extra water and a change of clothes.

Seconded! Body, perhaps two lenses and a flash

Garry,
Although I have 15-20 lenses, for everyday travel, etc. I prefer one camera body, 20mm, and 28~300mm, flash, meter, and a few odds and ends. All of that can he easily carried in a bag that costs about 40USD.

I've been using this bag for over 6 years. Never had a problem and it doesn't scream expensive camera equipment inside. I've also traveled with it numerous times. Never a problem at airports.

I agree. I always use a shoulder bag with limited space. But that way I can be sure of getting everywhere I want to without carrying too much. Usually I am fine with one camera and 2 lenses. But sometimes I bring 2 cameras and 3 lenses. Then my bag is full.

Don't worry about a backpack; get a wife. If you already have one, start conditioning and training early. Or get a llama.

LowePro AW500: it is a brilliant bit of kit but you may struggle to fit in every lens mentioned. I have mine loaded with a Nikon D500 + 300mm f4 PF VR + 1.4 TC fiited, an Olympus EM1 body, and Olympus 300mm f4 PRO + 1.4 TC, and Olympus 12 - 40mm f2.8 PRO, Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro, tripod mounts for the telephoto lenses, a Metz ring flash and extra batteries and SD card. In the side pockets I have a small umbrella and a couple of pairs of gloves. In the rear zip pocket I have a 2l water bladder, map, torch etc. It is well worth a look.

Peak design has one on kickstarter that looks good. I'm purchasing their tote.

Get an Asian wife. They are small but very strong. You can load em up until they are bent double and they never complain and will still cook your meals!

Check out Billinham Bags. They have several sizes available. Made in the UK, not cheap, but the best bag out there.

For toting the lot of what you've listed: LoweProtactic 450 AW. Has several access points so you don't have to dig for your gear.

However, I have to agree with many here that you need something smaller, as well, to tote just what you'll need/want for walking around. LowePro, Thinktank, Peak Design, Tamron, Billingham, all make great quality shoulder bags. I'm partial to backpacks, and LowePro has many to offer.

My favorite bag is a Tekniq back pack that was purchased from Kickstarter. It can be separated into 3 bags -- backpack, sling bag, or a small shoulder bag. Also, Peak Design has 4 different bags (2 backpacks) being sold on Kickstarter.

I never go anywhere with more than a camera with two lenses. If I need something more, which I seldom do, I just reach into my wife's bag and help myself. If its not in her camera bag, its in her purse. Why should I carry more when she "can't leave home with out it." Leon
