The D40X is next gen D40, may have the 10 Mp you asked about. Much better in use and reviews than the D40.
Do you know that the entry level D40 and D40x do NOT have focus motors, so you are limited to the AF-S lenses.. ie lenses with focus motors, ie not all the lenses in The Nikon stable. You can use the manual focus lenses or the AF-S only.

this has to be a joke , no one wants a d40 unless its mint shape with a good lens and no more $25.

Craigs List Los Angeles has several D40's listed in photo/video section (Nikon). Hope this helps.....P.J.

Thanks for the heads up, but the fellow, in Va is close,to me and I am looking for an inexpensive replacement for one that was stolen. For anyone's information KEH has D40 and D40x cameras. Thanks again.
