Bringing in the hay

I have just spent the last 3 day in the field helping my neighbors bring in their 2nd cutting hay crop. I spent 10 hours a day on a tractor tenting the hay for the next operation. I can't tell you how rewarding it is to work with honest decent hard working people. These folks were in the field 2 hours before I got there every morning repairing, fueling, and maintaining the equipment for the day.
I truly enjoyed pitching in and helping them bring in their crop. Working in the field in the great outdoors is something to be proud of.
I thank God for my great neighbors and the opportunity to give back to the wonderful community I live in.

I grew up that way--24/7/365. Many times of the year those days begin at dawn and earlier, depending on the time of year, and can last well past midnight. It's a hard job., and congrats to you for making it through haymaking.

Good for you! I actually had a great time, it felt good to be doing something really constructive. On the third day they switch implements and tractors for me to drive and I had an 85hp John Deere high crop 4wd with an air conditioned cab, that was neat.

There will be lots of kids these days that will never experience haying, to bad for them. It used to be common, not so much these days as the techniques for getting it in are changing.

Very true, when I was young we use to bail it in small square bales and physically lift them on to the trailer. Now we bail them into 1500 pound bales and move them with tractors, a vast improvement, trust me.
