joelaoxford, glad you have found merit and worth in the feedback...

birdpix thank you so much for the links provided...
These are indeed proving to be a venerable fountainhead of wisdom for those seeking knowledge in BIF photography (and other related action sports). What a marvelous resource indeed...

All - I tried to incorporate all of your advice during my next trip........i have uploaded 8 of my favorites. I employed the approach of manual exposure, with auto ISO, plus back button focus.......I also use spot focus on most of them, as well. your advice was priceless. I am not an expert by any means, but the advice was a huge help. any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Joe

I'd go one step further than KK suggested. Shoot in Manual, set aperture to desired DOF, shutter 1/500 or higher. Leave the ISO in AUTO. Just a thought. I haven't tried BIF in a while, and not at 600mm. Good luck

The additional things needed are spot focus and metering, setting the release to focus only, and using continuous release. Then pan through the bird, seeking to focus on the eye. The camera will fire when it achieves focus.

I use the min f-stop for the lens, which for me is 5.6. I don't mind wing tips out of focus because they will blur from motion anyway and I think it a nice effect.

All - Here is my latest....I used much of what you all told me previously I am really happy with this one. Always looking for pointers/assistance, however.

I manually set the Aperture & Shutter speed, while allowing the camera to choose the ISO. I used Spot metering, dynamic/ continues focus using 9 points and back-button focus.
