If you have a "Windows" phone running on Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, you can Upgrade and/or Update to the latest version of Windows 10 including the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Micro$oft is attempting to standardize their OS across all devices, be it a Desktop, a Laptop, a Tablet, or a Smartphone.

This is good for those that want to do this. Android is still very popular with smartphones, and despite Windows 10 being free for one entire year, 45% of computer users are still using Windows 7. Not exactly what Microsoft was expecting.

If Micro$oft has their way, eventually everyone will be using Windows 10. They will ram it down our throats one way or another. Why are there still people using XP anyway?
Ironically, as much as I loathe Windows, any version of Windows, I really enjoy the Windows experience on my smartphone. Maybe I'm just too cheap to actually go and buy an iPhone, but my Windows phone gives me 90 percent of the performance of an iPhone at 10 percent of the cost!
I've owned an Android phone and I really didn't like the Android OS, even though there are some very wonderful and powerful Android phones to be had. CORTANA is more effective, better than SIRI and better than whatever GOOGLE calls their voice actuated assistant.

By the way, when you purchase something it is to BUY, not BY or didn't they teach you that back in fourth grade?

Sorry for the spelling mistake, you are correct and I apologize for failing to check my spelling. But to repeat myself, why do you even own a Windows product if you have so much trouble with it and seem to hate the operating system and Microsoft? Would it not be better to get rid of what is causing you so much grief? Or do you just need something to complain about? If Apple products are that much better than Microsoft, why do they have such a small share of the market? All those people with Widows can't possibly be under the spell of Bill Gates.

Biggest is not automatically best!
My Mac is getting old and needs to be replaced. Currently my finances do not allow me the option of buying a new Mac. In the interim I bought myself a new Lenovo Laptop/Tablet to take care of some of my more pressing computer needs. Windows 10 on my Lenovo has been problematic several times. Not sure if the blame falls on Lenovo or on Micro$oft, but I never experienced such lunacy with any of my Macs. As much as I disdain Micro$oft, I seem to be the exception when it comes to their Mobile OS for cellphones, in that I like it very much. A simple check of this forum will show that there are way more disgruntled Windows 10 users than with previous versions of Windows. You usually get what you pay for when it comes to PCs, but ironically my Micro$oft Windows phone is an exceptional deal. Now if only I'd be more careful with my cellphones. I'm currently on my seventh Windows phone, having upgraded or replaced them because of breakage etc.

Windows 10 just automatically did a massive update to what amounts to a completely new version. In the process a whole bunch of my old software was deleted without my approval because it was "incompatible". Nevertheless, this software was working the day before the "update" and was an important part of my tools.

The solution was to go back to the previous install, which was a reasonably smooth process, and I now have all my software back and working. I wrote a complaint in my comments, so maybe the next upgrade will be a bit more compatible.

My "photography" computer {in our basement} is a Win XP machine, because the Nikon LS-2000 slide scanner I use was built to use that. I've tried various other scanners over the years, but the LS-2000 is by far the best of them.

My next personal computer will probably run Linux.

Back before I owned a Mac, I toyed briefly with Linux. Did you know, are you aware that Android OS for cellphones is built from the Linux kernel?

Yes, I know that.

Android was built from Linux by Google, a company that makes its money selling information.
I'm not sure that giving info to Google is much better than giving it to M$.

Well, either way you're going to give your money to one of them darn companies! For what I need and use a cellphone (smartphone) for, Windows Mobile OS gets the job done for me.
