a few years back i got my "outdoor photographer" mag & 0n the cover was a beautiful pic taken from a valley of fire local near las vegas. i went there & then it hit me - digital photography is way more computer dependent [photoshop] than i thought.the difference was night & day with the color - vibrance- contrast etc. what a letdown.

It could be, but we all modified our negatives in the past, not as much as in photoshop, but we did. I think 99% of the professional photographers use photoshop or another software, some recognized as the best in the world, which I am sure we can't say they are unskilled. The problem is when we overdo things that are artificial, to correct exposure or a colour I believe it is normal.

I was just having some fun with my former comment. Seriously, though, I think that there are to many photographers using it as a crutch. What they should be doing is going through their photos and trashing all but the best of them and then photoshop those that are remaining. Of the ones that were worth keeping, ask yourself what was right with them. Composure, exposure, special effect, ect.

Not necessarily. Hillary Clinton claimed that she landed in Bosnia and was under a sniper fire. Something similar cost Brian Williams his job, but Hillary will be our trusted President.
On the attached you can see all those snipers around her.

Honest, there is some truth in what you said, but these I call the designer not photographer. If one does not have the composition, near good exposure and some good idea what will be the final shot, I do not think he will succeed in producing a good photograph, so he has to build it from scratch, and that is designing.

Seems like if there's a human involved, there's a lier involved. That's the way we humans are.

The lazy Photographers tool.

Comments like these are usually made by people that don't have the mental capacity or the patience to learn Photoshop. They usually make comments like my images are perfect straight out the camera (SOOC) I have often wondered if people making these comments have given any thought to what is actually happening in their very sophisticated DSLR camera's. Do they ever switch their White Balance setting in their camera. Do they ever use the Picture Control settings in their camera's? How about that Exposure compensation button? Ever change that? Oh and don't forget those screw on Polarizing and Neutral Density filters. Don't forget about Fill Flash to take care of those shadows."Hey buddy can you tilt that gold reflector just a little bit to the left?"I could go on forever about all the different adjustments that can be made inside the menu's of today's DSLR cameras. All these adjustments are " EDIT's" done on that computerized camera of yours! Even in the film days, you had to do chemical manipulations to achieve what can easily be done in today's digital post-processing programs. I totally agree that people need to learn how to use their camera's to get the best possible shot. Some people choose to manipulate their camera settings, other choose to manipulate the controls in their post-processing software. Remember, they are all EDIT's. Now, if I could only remember where that LONG EXPOSURE NOISE reduction setting is on my menu. :-)
