During our visit to Custer State Park in South Dakota, we came across a group of native mules. They were very calm and came up to our car to meet my dog who was very curious.

Actually they are donkeys and have been an attraction in the park for years. Every year a few are sold at the annual buffalo auction to keep the population in check. They will actually stick their heads in a car in search of treats. They are real beggars. The babies are very cute photo opportunities and the herd is enjoyed by all who visit the park. I actually have a picture of my son-in-law changing my granddaughter's diaper in the back seat of the car and the donkey watching closely. Unfortunately, it was in the print film era and I have no idea where it is now or I would post it. Loved your photo.
