Great photo... and good to hear you got your early morning cardio as well!:-)

Thanks for the nice comment Dr J - I didn't expect to hike quite that quickly that early.

People like you amazing me because of your dedication to get shots like these. An absolutely stunning image. Great Job!

Thanks for the nice comment. It's always about the light when you are working on landscapes so sometimes you find the right light, sometimes you have to chase it - and get a bit lucky.

Wow! Thank you for getting up early in order to get this for us!
A nice picture of the East face, GSCRS!
I can clearly see the three of my 6 climbing routes - and with my perspiration droplets on!

Thanks Paul for the comment. I have never climbed this Mountain, but I spent many a weekend hiking and fishing in the Beartooth Mts. just out of Red Lodge, Montana as a youngster.

I really love this shot. The contrasts of hard and soft, warm and cool, light and dark, etc. are most appealing. It was certainly worth your effort. If you do any extra processing, I'll be most interested to see what that might be.

GREAT job! Being able to shoot 'on the fly' is as important, if not moreso, than being able to plan the photograph. I find that there is no other option in many of my travel photos. The photo is only available for a 'moment'

I was up on Mt Rainier before sunrise because . . . well sometimes you have to get up real early or stay out late to catch scenery like this. At about 6:15 AM this Sunday, (8/28/16) there was a very large lenticular cloud due southeast about 10 miles from the summit that was blocking the sunrise light. Then, the lenticular move a bit away and for about 5 minutes I had this interesting light to work with. I was hiking as quickly as I could up the mountain so this is a hand-held photograph. No time to stop and set up the tripod. Since it was very low light, I had to move my ISO to about 500. So, there's a bit of grain to this photograph. This is not the final print quality - I'll work on that later.

Very nice.

Thank you for the very nice comment. I'm working on some post processing now. I'm going to keep it simple - I'm looking at contrast and color saturation. What I saw when taking the photo there was more color definition, but at the high ISO I had to shoot at some of it was lost - also a loss to some of the contrast.
