I'm a big fan of Windows 10. Taken together with the security and security updates, reliability and ease of use, I think it is far better than any other OS including the Mac OS.

However, the complaints of the Electronic Frontiers Foundation are well-founded. I resent those companies, including Microsoft, which think they have a right to steal my personal information or mess with my computer without checking with me first. Microsoft is not the only or even primary such intruder.

Of course these companies are just a part of what we are learning as the "Surveillance Society." Every small town is purchasing street video cameras that record every action of every person who passes some corner. Every shopping mall has multiple cameras operating to track shoppers. This, in a era where serious crime has actually decreased. (Checked the FBI data) The stores have cameras watching you.

If you have not read George Orwell's "1984" in a while, you should.

Not sure why you make excuses or give rationale for the gross misconduct of Microsoft.... There are no such issues with Mac/Apple operating systems because the OS is open source. Just saying....

I have 79 important updates and 23 optional updates that Microsoft wants me to install in my Lenovo, Windows 7 Pro, desktop.
After reading this article I think I'll just take my chances and ignore them.
There's no way I want Windows 10 peeking into my PC usage.

It's not too late, I've never installed Windows 10 and never will.
By ignoring the up dates I'll never run the chance of them sneaking it into my PC.

When they quit supporting Windows 7 I'll switch to a Mac and be done with Microsoft.

I'm Not the one complaining.
I'm happy with what I've got and don't see the necessity of changing my way of doing things to suit Microsoft.

But you will be ready to change your way of doing things to suit Apple?

I have been using Apple products for the last 26 years in my graphic design and printing business, I won't have to change anything.
I also use the PC for communicating with customers who don't want to change the way they do things to communicate with me.
I'm a Willow, I can bend, But I won't submit to the snoopes a Microsoft because the system I have now works just fine and when it stops working I'll just continue on with the Mac.

I retired almost exactly a year ago and see no need to replace the PC with anything when it bites the dust.

I also need to communicate with customers who have both PC or Mac. I have no problems using PCs to communicate with Macs. What problems do you have?

If you are retired and don't need it for work anymore then why still use it?
