Need u r opinion. I'm starting a card business. Have an appt this week with a vets office. The office mgr I will b mtg with I have known for at least 15 years...I told her abt my business & asked if she would like to meet with me to look at my cards to purchase as sympathy cards for their clients...I do not take pics of pets/animals. My pics are all about landscaping and flowers...do you think landscape & flowers would be appropriate??

Just a thought but maybe the approach would be to take one of the pet owners photos and scan and retouch using software if the owner doesn't have the needed skills or software. My avatar is my Yorky/Poodle mix and my best friend for 14 years. I lost her about 1 1/2 years ago. The photo had terrible green eyes until I "Photoshoped" it.

Thank you Pounder35. That's exactly what I did recently for a patient I had. (I"M a CNA & do home health care). She had a picture & asked me to make cards for her daughter, for Christmas. I really enjoyed doing that & would like to go in that direction. This is very overwhelming at this point. I try to keep it in perspective & do one thing at a time. It'll all work out if this is the direction I'm suppost to be going in.

Good luck! Life's more fun when you're creative. Sun's coming up at the beach. Since I can't sleep might as well grab the camera and go!

Bring back PICTURES!!!

Got a few early on the bay. Been shooting some interiors but I do't have the equipment I really need. Wider angle lens mainly. Missed a good chance last night with lightening over the inlet where the fishing boats dock. I went down to see a band that a friend plays keyboards in and I'm sitting on the deck and a freak thuderstorm pop's up. Of course the camera is at the condo 15 miles away and it's raining too hard to go get the equipment, and would probably have to deal with a water damaged camera afterwards. Plan on shooting some sunsets down that way tonight and some photos for the band. N/C but might get a few beers out of the deal.

Dear Jozart~Thank u for your encouragement. It helped a lot. I am moving forward with the website. My friend is going to help me with it. My sister has a photography business. She takes pics of people & pets. I checked her site out & I will be looking at others to get ideas. I've never sold anything on Ebay so that will be another learning curve. I'm very excited about all the possibilities....Thanks ~ Maggie ~

Ebay selling is easy. Set up a PayPal account. Be honest and keep your feedback rating 100%. It might seem complicated but it's not. I usually lay out my ad text in Word then cut and paste. Watch shipping costs. You can lose a little there if your not carefull. My transactions are about 135 with 100% positive feedback. I'm a small fish in the ocean. I also normally post that I only ship US and Canada but have shipped photo equipment to Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and China. Maybe some other locations I forgot about. Never been burned buying or selling. So far. Make sure if you ship overseas you know what it costs to ship. That can hurt if you underestimate.

I work as the supervisor at at Veterinarian hospital and pet retreat, in the pet retreat area. I can tell you first hand that most pet owners treat their pets like they do children. This is a tough one to answer, but I would have to say that the majority would rather a picture of their pet, not flowers or landscaping. Again, that's just my opinion.

I would love to work at a pet retreat or start one. Not sure if there is one in the Destin/Ft. Walton, FL. area. I'm sure there is a lot of expense involved. Very few pet friendly condo/hotels here. A vet in Selma, AL. has two fake fire hydrants in front of the building. One is crimson and white and says "Bama" the other is orange and blue and says "AU War Eagle" You got to understand the Alabama/Auburn rivalry down here.

YOU are correct. My card business targets horse owners and they are the same. they want a horse that looks like theirs on their cards, so I paint a picture of THEIR horse and make their cards. Many of my customers are tack shop owners that sell my cards in their shops and many Stable owners buy as many as 500 cards at a time to send to their customers when they are ill or as thank-you cards. At Christmas, I am so busy, I almost wind up in the hospital from exhaustion!!! TARGET is the word. I love flowers and landscapes, but my customers do not want them on their cards!

I have been making cards of my prints for a little while, just for my own use, then started giving a bundle of assorted prints (blank inside) as little gifts, just for the fun of it. People keep asking me how much I charge for them, and honestly, I have never sold them, so I have no idea. I buy the card stock at Micheal's, and attach to pictures to the outside. It's time consuming, but the total cost of a card is 60 cents. I know cards are expensive, but what would a bundle of ten assorted cards go for (not printed on the card, but actual photos attached)? I took this photo at a local coffee shop, and thought about asking if they would like to sell some in their gift area, but someone told me that the saying was copyrighted, so I just use them for my own thank you cards.
