Nikon D750 Shutter Problem

My D750 just developed the shutter problem so well documented. My serial number was not on the recall list. My question is: Has anyone ever had to replace the shutter more than once? I still have the option of getting an extended warranty from Nikon and depending on your answers I may get the extension. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I have two rental D750's and a personal copy. Shutter counts vary from 13,000 to 88,000, never had an issue with any of mine. Two of which were in the warranty recall range of serial numbers and were sent in, but the issue was not present so they were cleaned, adjusted, and returned just as they were sent in.

Send it in to Nikon. Since this is a known problem, repair should be covered indefinitely. Notice I said "should."

Which problem? The "flare" or the "shutter lock-up"? Or are you confusing the old D600 /D700 "Oil on the sensor" issue?

Glad Nikon "acknowledges" it. My high end smcPentax-DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL [IF] SDM (purchased new) lens was one of the early ones with a failed SDM motor. Pentax never issued a recall or gave an extension to have it repaired beyond the initial warranty. By the time I figured out what was going on they wanted to charge me a repair fee for a lens that was still basically new (I could count the number of times I had used it at that point on my fingers). It initially AF'd very slowly and then not at all. I "fixed" the problem myself by hacking the lens' firmware. I shut off the lens' SDM feature, and so now the lens auto-focuses fine using the regular Pentax in-body (worm gear) focusing system. Oddly the lens always had AF that worked on my older Pentax K-100D camera as that model does not support SDM.

I use a model with a Copal #1 shutter, it wasn't on the recall list.

Speaking of D750 'shutter count', where in the menu system do you find that data? I've searched the .pdf version of the manual for 'shutter count' and don't find anything. Thanks for any help.

I wish they would make it a Menu item. Here are lots of links.

Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info. Or you can just press I and/or E to get lots of info.
Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

I have a few of those too. For 4x5" view cameras!
