Has anyone used FreeTVKey to replace cable or satellite TV. How many stations will I be able to get?

Thanks.

Basically, any piece of wire poked into the antenna hole will do just as good. Depending where you are in relationship to the broadcast transmitters will determine what is available. Just take a 3' length of bare wire and carefully poke one end into the antenna jack (center hole without touching the outer threaded sleeve). Then go into the TV's menu and set it for rooftop antenna and let it scan for channels. It may take a couple of minutes to grab them all but it will be free and you get just as many commercials as pay TV. Good Luck!

Do I have to have a separate device to get the broadcasts that are in HD?

I bought one of those HEVC boxes, connects the internet to the tv.
no monthly fees, no cable, no dish, no DVR
they say you can watch anything that has ever been on tv
I found that to be only about 98% true
I get almost every thing on HBO, Showtime, Netflix, History, Discovery, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, etc.
I even get movies that are in theaters.
I would suggest: download 'KODI' and install 'Exodus' onto your computer and watch Youtube videos about 'Kodi'
As soon as I figure out live tv for the wife and her mother, I'm canceling Direct TV.

I got mine at one of those kiosks at the mall.
I understand you can get them (or similar) on Amazon.
You'll just have to do a little search.
Mine was $175, I think you can get them cheaper.
My internet is 20 meg, I can watch a 1080 movie, only problem is sometimes the internet slow down a little.
No problems with a 720 movie, the picture is very good.
Any movies in 480 or SD, the picture is not so good.

I saw something on Yahoo Technology. I knew I should have sent a note to myself.
It was a cable-free device, probably similar to that HEVC box, from a startup co. It will be $250, but if you send some startup money it will be $150.

just got a 'smart tv' for my camper, supposed to have netflix and hulu in it, not sure the box would do me any good, and the new tv was under $150.00, just have to wait for internet up there.

No, all stations are required to transmit in HD, I bought an outside antenna from "Radio Shack" and all my received channels are in HD.

No, Most local network affiliates have been broadcasting over the air in HD for years. (you cable companies charge extra for this, which is like paying extra for color!)

It's just a TV antenna. Go to Radio Shack (or similar) and get a good UHF/VHF TV Antenna. (amplified is best).
