I just place my camera bag into a standard carry-on luggage bag with rollers of the right size. Maybe wrap the camera bag in a fluffy towel or bubble wrap for extra cushioning and a snug fit. When I arrive at my destination, I simply remove my camera bag from the luggage bag and I am ready to shoot. I really don't see the need for a special camera luggage bag unless one plans to take pictures on the plane or in the airport and thereby needs to access the camera easily. (A pocket camera is probably better for that anyway.)

I have done this and it works find. I would suggest going to a second hand store and look for a beat up one that has good wheels. Who would guess you have a thousand dollars outfit in it.

I have too much stuff to put a camera bag into my regular rollaboard, so the dedicated case was the way I chose to go. In fact, as I mostly do landscape when traveling, I often have to leave my 400/f3.5 at home. on occassion, I have a Pelican 1600 that I use when I ship my equipment from time to time. Right now, I have the pick & pluck foam in it, but I'm considering replacing that with the padded dividers to increase it's capacity. I'd much rather check my clothing than my camera gear.

Single camera on board used Think Tank Airport Navigator. Great but didn't consider future possibilities and had to move up a little to Think Tank International V2 - Highly superior in quality material, rollers and security. Forgot AC adapter and cord to connect to laptop and other little extras - somehow acquired latest Think Tank Airport Security V2. (Price recently went up). Hide in back of closet so looks like I have just one or two. Surprising how often I have to switch from one to another. All within carry-on limits. Watch your wallet.

I use a Kata 3N1 33 back pack along with a normal roll aboard bag. The Kata bag can be used as a back back or as a sling bag. It includes an integral strap that fits over the vertical roll aboard bag handle and allows it to sit on top of the roll aboard. It is equipped with a padded PC compartment with room for a 15" PC. You should check it out.
