Photomatix in Lightroom 5.6

I have used Photomatix before, but it has been a while. Now, when I create the HDR file in Photomatix, and I hit the return to original file, it does not return to the Lightroom photostream or the original folder so I can pp it slightly. It does appear in the "all photos location".

Can anyone offer a way to get the Photomatix file to return to the LR photosteam?

When you export from LR to Photomatix a box will pop up asking if you want the image re-imported into the LR library. Make sure that box is checked. It will then be imported right next to the original image.

I unchecked and checked the box again. Still, does not bring the HDR image back to the LR photostream. However, I found it in the All Photos group. Hmmm... You have got to be right, but it is still not happening.

Ok, when I export to Photomatix, I'm exporting from the all photographs library, and it re-imports and stacks it with the original photo, in the all photographs library. I'll do any further adjustments, and then put it in the selected folder. Are you trying to export from a specific folder, and re-import to that folder? I'm not sure if Photomatix can do that.

Yes, from a specific folder back to that folder. Wolfman, that's what has me baffled. After returning last year from Grand Teton NP, I took many sets of three bracketed pix of the Mormon Barns thru the Photomatix process and in all cases it returned the new HDR image to the same set in the original file. Just can't figure out why I cannot repeat the same process successfully.

Today's backyard practice shot was practice for a 13-day Alaska trip starting tomorrow. I don't plan to mess with this issue until I return. HDR is a big part of this trip's photo plan.

Yes, from a specific folder back to that folder. ... (show quote)

Not sure what the problem could be other than a setting may have changed somehow. I just exported, from a specific folder back to that folder, and it did work.

Thanks for sticking with me on this one. I am glad it worked for you. I updated to the 5.1.3 version of Photomatix. Doubt that is the problem.

not sure if it's the same, but I have experienced problems like that myself as well. After doing my stuff in Photomatix, close the photo, and it sends me back to LR. But can't see the file. I just close en reopen LR and the file it's there. Sometimes it's working with no problem. It did not bothered me that much so I am OK with restart LR.

Thanks for offering these thoughts, catalint. Another possibility for sure. When all else fails, there's workarounds.

Is there any reason why you don't use the Lightroom HDR feature?

Try opening the photo as a TIFF in Ps first then go to a plugin or external editor from there, when done save the resulting photo back in LR from Ps the round trip from LR to Ps and back always works with me.
