Looks like you were focusing on the tip of the flower. Try focusing on the bee

i find most macro shots boring unless there as big as life . you need to get closer or a longer lens , and a faster shutter , even the samples shown here are to small , granted some are clear but way to small

Spot focus and ditch the tripod...bees move too fast to even bother with it...I liken it to shooting clay pigeons, put the red spot on the bee and shoot...I use AFS and refocus for each shot...I find AFC is not fast enough on the lenses I have...

this is more like it , notice how the bee is the main topic ,and not the whole flour as in the other pic , show . you can see the bee

The bees do move a little slower when cold so try shooting early in the morning. That will help a little. Take lots of images and discard ALL of the less perfect ones. That last step will make you a hero :-)

Definitely make sure your shutter speed is faster. Not sure what aperture you shot but you may want to reduce your aperture (ie: instead of f2.8, use f5.6) so you have more depth of field and a little more room for error. May have to sacrifice ISO to get there. Also, if you can pre focus on a point you know the bee will be, that may help too.

Here's mine entitled, "Bees Knees".
Shot hand-held 5'-6' distance with Canon 7D mounted with Canon EF 70-300 IS USM lens at 300mm center point focus on bee in aperture priority +2/3 EV, ISO 320, f/11, 1/80th second. Jpeg was post-processed by adding saturation, contrast and cropped; which you can see by comparing the original below. It may not be virtuoso, but it's my best recital; and so the title. Keep clickin'!
