Has anyone used the Lensbaby for their photography. I watched a set of classes with a photographer that found her passion with these lens. Her specialty was flowers. The effects she achieved with the different styles of this lens was breath taking. I went to my local photography store, which by the way is awesome, discontinued selling them. They stated because their were too difficult to use. Viewing this instructor when she used these lens appeared very straight forward. She had about 4 different "styles" of these lens. B&H sells them but I wanted to see if any of you could give some feedback with your experiences?
As always thank you in advance for any and all info.

I don't have one myself but I've watch a friend use one. Yes, often some interesting results (that would be different with a conventional lens). Take a look at
http://lensbaby.com/product-category/lenses/ They make a number of products.
I would think your local "awesome" camera store (Roberts?) is in business to sell products. If it chooses not to carry a viable product, their reason may be validly based on unhappy experience of other buyers. I suggest carefully reading owner reviews on websites for B&H, Adorama and Amazon as well as product reviews on DPReview and CNET.

I use a lensbaby and took a class with Kathleen Clemonds. It's a wonderful lens to work with and has a ton of possibilities when shooting everything from a closeup to landscapes. I bought mine from lensbaby direct and they are nice people to deal with. Hope you get one, you'll enjoy it.
I'm surprised Roberts has stopped selling them. Is that only in the Carmel store? I've seen lovely results with these lenses. I thought I might get a used one someday......
I have the Composer Pro 50 with macro adapters. I love it. There is a slight learning curve to using it. My group did a lensbaby workshop with Gabe Bidderman from B&H. It was great and we got to play with several of the lensbabies. Someone then went after to a local store to buy one. She was told they weren't good, people were returning them, etc. He convinced her to buy a different lens...not telling her that they didn't even sell lensbaby!
Get in touch with Dixiegirl on this site. She has done some very good work with this type of lens and will recommend the easiest one to use. She is most of the time in the close-up section. I highly recommend her. You can also do a search at the top of this page to find her....Rich

They take some getting used to but make unique images. All manual operation. You control diffusion/sharpness by aperture setting. You control location of sharpness by the tilt of the lens. I think they are the only way, other than a view camera with swings and tilts, to get that unique look.
I just got the Lensbaby twist and I really like it. The subject of focus has great clarity and then depending on what you are shooting the background has a nice twirling effect caused by the internatl optics.
You spend an obscene amount for a lens and then mess it up with a lens baby! NEVER !!!

Do you understand a Lensbaby? It's a lens by itself, not something you add to a lense!
Both locations aren't selling them. They had rented them for a while but aren't anymore.
