Using a fisheye lens in a rather normal, non-fisheye way.

My wife and I went to lunch with a brother-in-law and a mutual friend of ours. These two pictures were taken with a Pentax Spotmatic F camera body and a 17mm f4 SMC Takumar lens. Film used was Alford Pan F exposed at the normal 50 ASA speed and developed in a one shot solution of D76 at a 1:4 dilution.

I will still use film for relatively mundane shooting situations. Nothing more than a pleasant time with people I like.

Looking forward to seeing your photos. Please post you photos in another post in this thread (not the o.p. or it may get moved). Thanks

Hopefully 'Big Bird' will learn that the new mechanism to post things is quite arcane and difficult for many to use....

One step forward, two steps back, Peter.

Sounds like that old joke about Southern Baptists and dancing!

I hear they're allowed to dance now. I grew up a Conservative Baptist (at least from 17) and dancing and the movies were out. We found a lot of other fun things to do, though.

Richard - I have separated the two lines representing the images, but the links are still not 'live'. They appear to represent image locations on your computer system, not the images themselves. The images should be selected for uploading and posted to UHH by clicking the Add Attachment button. Sorry.

Your 17mm f/4 lens is a wide-angle focal length, but not what most would call a true 'fish eye'.
The b&w film to which you refer is called ILFORD, I believe.

The pictures, of course, should be posted in the Gallery, not here in Main Discussion. Saves Admin the trouble of moving them.

Why? If they are for just posting as photos, then that may make sense. If they are posted to support a different topic of discussion, such as the use of fisheye lenses in normal situations, then why not here in the main discussion?

I could also suggest that you only post in the attic, then we wouldn't need to bother to read your stuff either. Would that make sense? Probably not? But you could give it a try for a while!

Let's give people a chance at least....

The lens in question identifies as a fisheye. http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/S-M-C-Super-Fish-Eye-Takumar-17mm-F4.html You could question that, but you seem to be making unsupported and unwarranted assumptions.

We haven't even seen any images yet, and yet some people seem to being rather picky. Sure the film is Ilford, but we all make a few typos.

Personally I'd like to see the images. Maybe then we can see if the lens is rectilinear or a true fisheye. Until then the evidence suggests that it is either a fisheye or that Pentax knows less than you do about its products.

Perhaps we could be a little more welcoming here!
