With Wal Mart who knows. The company could decide to do that and it could take years for some stores to figure it out. Their managers are so lazy that the company has regional standard orders to fill when the manager is too lazy to fill out an order form. Ever wonder why your Wal Mart is always out of some items and others, there are tons of a product all over the place; that's why. Their management is so screwed up it's amazing that haven't gone out of business.

I hate those self checkouts - always a problem. Stores are having trouble getting people to work, though. I know someone working at the local Lowe's, and he said that sometimes people just don't show up for work, or they don't return from lunch. One day, they had four cashiers not show up for various reasons, so they were reduced to just one register, and not even the self service ones.

Actually the thread was about price matching being discontinued in 500 Wal-Mart stores. I personally don't mind self-check and I use it at Kroger, Lowe's, Home Depot. and even Wal-Mart if I am not price matching. It is usually faster.

I think using the self-checkout at grocery stores is actually slower. A good checker and bagger can do it faster than I can, especially if I have to look up a lot of produce.

I won't use it either if I have produce to purchase. That does make it slower.

PS: Wal Mart never said that they have the best prices in town. It's up to the consumer to do his/her homework, just like anywhere we shop.

Staples continues to price match. They will readily match Amazon's prices, but it has to be Amazon itself doing the selling, not a 3rd party supplier from Amazon.

Yes! It is possible, but it's a nuisance. I've had a problem with ice cream several times. "Incorrect weight for item."

Of course it is up to the consumer to do his or her homework and you are right that they never said they were the cheapest guys in town.......they don't have to! But nevertheless there are people who you will never convince that they are not the cheapest guys in town. I know this for a fact because I know a few of these people. Yes they are totally "brainwashed" by the Wal-Mart enigma. But that really does not matter to me at all. You are right and I am right.
