The Kalpies, Scotland’s Mythical Horses
The magnificent sculptures made from steel plates stand 30mts high beside the Forth & Clyde canal at Falkirk, Fyfe, Scotland.
Kelpie, or water kelpie, is the Scots name given to a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the Lochs and pools of Scotland. It has usually been described as appearing as a horse, but is able to adopt human form. Some accounts state that the kelpie retains its hooves when appearing as a human, leading to its association with the Christian idea of Satin as alluded to by Robert Burns Robert in his 1786 poem “Address to the Deil”
These are awesome! What an interesting myth!
Thanks a lot Gambler, much appreciated,
Geoff

These are cool and well shot #1 with the people in gives a good sense of scale they put the angel of the north to shame well worth traveling the extra miles to see them.
Hi Al, I've not seen the Angel yet but these are so impressive, amazing detain in the muscle shapes and the eyes of the horses, sadly we weren't abele to get back a night when they are light up, but we will certainly go back.
