I once had a boss --- a VP --- who cut about a ten second pants stainer in a meeting he was hosting. There were 14 of us in the small conference room. He grinned, said, "That probably stinks as bad as today's number reports," and carried on... Because he could. We ALL wanted to fight or flee, but couldn't. He was universally shunned after that, and fired a few months later.
