She was quite the data head in the 80's. She was promoted to Rear Admiral then. A remarkable woman.

It's no wonder she earned the nickname "Amazing Grace" based on this video clip.

Jerry, I wish I had this video when I was teach basic electronics at Keesler AFB, Biloxi (before Katrina) Miss, in 1959. It would have been an amazing help.

I had the pleasure of meeting ADM Hopper in 1963 when I was in the Navy. She is an icon.

All these years later I still hate COBOL.

I had one of her nanoseconds that she handed out at a DPMA meeting in the early '80s. She was a very entertaining
and interesting speaker.

She was once quoted in an interview as saying "It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to get permission." I am certain all of you have heard it before but now you know the origin.

I heard Commodore Hopper talk at a conference once back in the 80s or early 90s. She said this line after telling a story about something that happened with her. I forget the details of the story, but she it was about her taking the initiative rather than waiting for her superior to give her permission.

I got one of her nano seconds at the end but have no idea what I did with it. But I still have a couple of COBOL books and some code I wrote a long time ago.

Jerry, thanks for posting.
