Rare visitor to our pond this evening

Not the first Great Egret we've seen but the first in quite a while. Our resident Great Blue Heron seemed somewhat put out by the presence of the visitor. In fact, he flew up and landed in the tree right outside our livingroom window a few minutes ago. It was quite startling to my wife, but I think it was just a feeble attempt at getting attention.

Thank you. I hope he hangs around too. Not sure why we almost always have GBH's but not the white ones. If you go 30 miles away to the Illinois River, both are very common.
