I have a Nikon F-100. It needs a little bit of repair and service. I contacted Nikon USA. They wont touch it due to the lack of available parts, they said. I was wondering if anybody knows of a good repair service that may look at it. I don't think it needs anything major. Possibly new flash shoe contacts and battery holder insert and a good cleaning. Any help greatly appreciated!! Thank you !!

P.S. - No I don't work for them, but do a good deal of business with them.

Camtronics here in Columbus, OH does excellent camera repair including out of warranty work. They are Nikon authorized. Their website is http://camtronicscamerarepair.com/. If Nikon can't support the camera, you may have a hard time finding anybody to repair it due to lack of parts.

Thanks to Bob and Nick for your information. The problem seems to be a lack of parts. I really think all I need is a new battery holder. If I hook up my MB-15, it works fine. If I use the cameras battery holder, it will work if I push slightly on the battery compartment door. Like it is not making good contact. Oh well, could be much worse !!

You might try a thin piece of foam or folded cloth under the battery door, to maintain pressure on the battery. Not too thick, or you may damage the latch for good!

If it is a replaceable part you might try locating a parts only camera on eBay for a few bucks. If you can locate a model like yours just contact the seller to be sure the part you require is working on the parts camera.

Good idea. I did pretty much the same thing when I broke the latch that holds the battery in place of my Alpha 850. In my case, I had a damaged body available & rather than have Camtronics attempt to order parts from Sony, I donated my other A850 to the cause.

Just checked ebay. There's an F100 body only for $71.00 in Illinois. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-F100-35mm-SLR-Film-Camera-Body-Only-/172268668519?hash=item281c034667:g:mRYAAOSwAPlXgToV. It would probably cost more than that if the parts were available from Nikon.

It would be nice to know where in the world you are because there are great repair locations all over.

Don't know where you're located, but in today's world of shipping it might not matter as long as you're on the continent. You might try K.R.I.S. Camera. They're also located in Tempe, AZ. The problem you might have is parts, if it needs parts. If Nikon doesn't have them, then someone with a supply of cameras used to cannibalize parts might be your only source.

I use Tempe Camera as well. I live near them and everything I've taken to them they have fixed. They seem to have a huge supply of parts cameras so even my old stuff has been fixed....such as parts for a 40 year old Nikormat and they made the meter work again. Nyms

Oh. Is that considered Chandler? I go to west Tempe to get there. But maybe that is Chandler. Sorry.
