My Canon Pixma MG5220 died today. I liked the all in one printer/scanner. Any recommendations on a new Canon and one that might use the
Canon ink that I have already purchased for this printer. $100-200 budget.

I can't help you with a recc on a Canon, but I just bought an Epson XP-434 photo quality printer at Wal-Mart for abt $65, real photo capabilities with magenta-yellow-cyan ink cartridges less expensive than Canon or HP inks, it prints up to 8.5x11 format, software allows configuration of smaller prints, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 compatible. Go Epson and sell your Canon ink to another UHH subscriber. The XP-434 also copies and scans, and comes with very good setup instructions and online support, including free firmware upgrades. I replaced another Epson printer, about 10 yrs old, because Windows 10 would not load the driving software. I am very happy with my selection.

What died on it? How'd it die?

Jut asking because my Pixma requested me to get it serviced after not working anymore.

What I did was to remove all the ink containers and give the gold colored con tact the pink pearl treatment. Also quickly on the printer's contacts.

After the treatment, I put the cartridges back in and all worked well.

Wait for a sale. Canon Pixma Pro 100 is an excellent printer and they run sales on it. $399 plus paper, but you get a rebate so it ends up costing between $99 and $150.00.

Mine did the same thing, just turned it off and restarted it. Everything seemed fine.

Canon MX922, Amazon for about $90. Pretty good on photos, not a professional printer though. Copies, scans as well. Resolution is 9200x1200 I think, verify. I buy Amazon third party cartridges for about $1 apiece, work every bit as good as Canon cartridges. Have had printer for 3 years, several boxes of paper so far, probably 20,000 pages. No issues what so ever.

What will you use this for? A combined scanner/printer usually makes some sacrifices in quality. If you want a good photo printer, see the top two on this list: http://www.bestreviews.guide/photo-printers?origin=google&bs=1567603904&targeting=19199895077&google_params[loc]=9012311&google_params[interest]=&google_params[matchtype]=b&google_params[network]=g&google_params[device]=c&google_params[creative]=59676041117&google_params[keyword]=rating%20photo%20printer&google_params[placement]=&google_params[adposition]=1t4&account_id=167&gclid=CjwKEAjw_LG8BRDb1JTxm8uP_UwSJADu_8pWmYPLl3s4Lmz03btJopE09Wu9Kif2KnamylDk8DP3jxoCgTHw_wcB

Thanks for your responses. After checking the websites that you recommended, I talked with a Canon service representative . He was very helpful but after trying a few "fixes", I decided this very old and used Canon needed to retire. I will be shopping for a new Canon printer/copier/scanner today.

I purchased a Canon Pixma MX922 after my Canon i9900 died. Very happy with MX922 and all third party ink from Amazon. Will print up to 8x10. Will scan 4 photos at once. It is good, have had no problems. Good luck on your shopping

B&H Photo just put up a special on the Pixma PRO_100 printer. A $100 instant rebate and a $250 mail in rebate brings the price down from $399.99 to $49.99. If you buy a Canon camera at the same time the Printer rebate is $350. A Free printer!
Check it out.

Forgive my ignorance. What is the "pink pearl treatment?"
