This is pronounced House-ton, not Hue-ston, as in Houston, Texas

These three young ladies allowed me to take their picture after they got permission from their mother. I liked how colorful the outfits were

If you go again, head to Brooklyn Heights. Then The Promenade. The views from there of the bridges and lower NY are great. Also a very historic part of the city.

If anyone goes there, it is at the end of Atlantic ave. Great middle Eastern food stores along the Avenue. Not to be missed. Also the views of the NYcity skyline are spectacular along the BQE (brooklyn Queens Expressway) But don't try it during rush hour or you will need to pack a picnic lunch, you will be there forever.
Our pronunciation of Houston is correct. Does one live in house or a hues?-

It may be correct for New Yorkers but since I don't live in New York I don't care how New Yorkers pronounce it. I grew up calling it Hueston, Texas and I'll go out pronouncing it Hueston, Texas. Tom Hanks didn't say "Houseton, we have a problem".

However you pronounce it, hope you enjoyed your stay.

I enjoyed some parts of it and other parts not so much. I didn't care much for Times Square with the traffic and flood of humanity. I heard NY residents avoid Times Square and I can see why. Took a cab a couple times while in TS. It was a 20 minute ride and ten dollars to go a little over a mile (I checked it with my GPS). And those cab drivers are just plain scary. Liked the Staten Island Ferry, the Natural History Museum, Top of the Rock (although I hate heights). Really liked riding around in the subway. We stayed at an airBnB in Brooklyn so we were on the subway all the time. Did a lot of walking, a Lot Of Walking. Made it over to B & H even though my GAS has pretty much been cured for quite a while. I was really surpised at how small B & H was.
Many of us do avoid Times Square. I was there in April, for the first time in about six years. Cab drivers here are terrible, unconcerned about rules and in many cases, dangerous. As a native, glad much of it was enjoyable.
